Charles Telfair Education proudly hosted the English-Speaking Union Public Speaking Finals, an event that brought together an inspiring display of eloquence, critical thinking and student talent.
This year’s finals marked another successful collaboration with the English-Speaking Union, reinforcing a shared commitment to promoting excellence in communication and intellectual engagement among students.
We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests, including the President of the Republic, H.E. Dharambeer Gokhool, as well as representatives from the U.S. Embassy, the British High Commission and the British Council.
Nine exceptionally talented finalists delivered powerful and thought-provoking speeches based on the international theme: “The light of a candle is transferred to another candle.” Each participant demonstrated remarkable confidence, originality and depth of thought.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Giralia Grace Lisette of Marechal College Rodrigues, who was awarded first place for her outstanding speech titled “One Spark is Enough.”
We look forward to welcoming the next edition of the finals in 2027 and continuing to celebrate the voices of tomorrow.
